How to play Compass Rift
Compass Rift is a free geography game with a new route every day. A game takes about two minutes.
The daily route
Each day your ship leaves a port and sails a real sea route. On the way it makes five stops. At the end there is one more stop: where is the ship going? Everyone in the world plays the same route on the same day.
Each stop
- Read the clue. It is a fact about a real place, for example about its history, its people or its nature.
- Tap the map where you think the place is. You can zoom in and move the map.
- If you know the name, you can also type it.
Some stops are at sea: a sea, a gulf, a strait, a canal, an island or a port. Other stops are on land, like a city or a famous building. The ship stays at sea, so for a land stop you go by train from the port, or by plane when the place is more than 600 km away.
The first stop is easy. Each stop is a little harder than the one before.

A good answer is a stop where you get 700 points or more for distance. The best possible day is 11,640 points.
Your Atlas
When you get 700 points or more at a stop, the place goes into your Atlas. The Atlas is your own world map. It fills in as you play, day after day.
Days in a row
Play every day to keep your days in a row. Every 7 days in a row you get a freeze, if you do not have one already. You can have only one freeze at a time. If you miss one day, the freeze is used by itself and your days in a row are saved. The missed day does not add to your count. If you miss two days or more, your days in a row start again at 1.
Old games
You can play any past day from Old games on the home screen. Old games do not count for your days in a row, but the places you find still go into your Atlas.
Tips
- The stops are always near the ship's route. Look at where the ship is.
- If you are not sure, tap in the middle of the area you think of. Close is still good.
- On a land stop, the right country gives you 200 points even if you are far from the place.
